Curundu Nitro's nickname is Sinbad. His sire, Curundu Saladin, a black straight Egyptian (15.2+) was sired by the black straight Egyptian Bahim Hisan. Anheuser Busch Corporation chose Bahim over 100 other black stallions to represent them in their TV commercial and poster campaign, "The Busch Black Stallion". Saladin's dam's sire, *El Mokhtar, was chosen, not only for his black color but his outstanding conformation and beauty, for the action shots and race scene in the movie 'The Black Stallion Returns'.
Sinbad's dam, Curundu Siiri, was sired by the black straight Egyptian Bahim Hisan. Siiri's dam is the large black mare SBA Beda. Beda's sire, L M Raffon Two, is of double national champion Raffon breeding. Raffon produced El Raffon, who was 9 times top ten halter stallion. L M Raffon Two's dam is Gamar Mirage, a full sister to Taffona, the dam of Huckleberry Bey++.

The photo to the left is one of Sinbad's foals. All the black foals he has thrown are from grey and black mares. Sorrels/chestnuts mares have had dark bays with the exception of one dark bay mare, who said her foal was black. We have heard from two owners of grey mares whose black foals out of a grey mare turned grey with black points as he got older.
